Manchester United’s nightmare start under new boss Erik ten Hag continued with a 4-0 humiliation at the hands of Brentford in the English Premier League on Saturday.

United, looking to bounce back from their 2-1 opening week loss to Brighton, were stunned by a brilliant first-half display by Brentford, who had netted four times by the 35th minute.

Josh Dasilva drew first blood in the 10th minute as goalkeeper David de Gea failed to keep out his relatively tame strike from distance.

Mathias Jensen doubled the lead eight minutes later after taking the ball off new United recruit Christian Eriksen.

Ben Mee headed home the third in the 30th minute before Bryan Mbeumo hammered the final nail in the Red Devils’ coffin to seal a memorable win at the Gtech Community Stadium.

After an underwhelming sixth-place finish last season, United find themselves bottom of the standings after these two consecutive losses, with more misery likely in store as they host Liverpool in their next game on Aug. 22.

Saturday’s results:

Aston Villa vs Everton: 2-1

Arsenal vs Leicester City: 4-2

Brighton vs Newcastle United: 0-0

Manchester City vs Bournemouth: 4-0

Southampton vs Leeds United: 2-2

Wolves vs Fulham: 0-0

Brentford vs Manchester United: 4-0
