The Boston Celtics will retire their former player Kevin Garnett's jersey during the 2020-2021 season.

During Thursday's game between the Celtics and Los Angeles Clippers, the Eastern Conference franchise announced that they will hang Garnett's no. 5 jersey in the rafters at TD Garden in Boston.

Garnett, a 15-time NBA All-Star, joined the Celtics in 2007, where he averaged 15.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1 block per game in a six-year spell.

He helped the Celtics lift their 17th title after beating the Los Angeles Lakers 4-2 in the 2008 NBA Finals.

Garnett was also named the Defensive Player of the Year in 2008, while he was selected to four NBA All-Defensive Teams during his Celtics career.

Considered one of the best power forwards in the NBA, Garnett was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves in 1995. He averaged 17.8 points and 10 rebounds throughout his career.

After 21 years in the NBA, Garnett retired from professional basketball in 2016.

He won his sole title with the Celtics.
