Croatian defender Vida joins Greek club AEK
33-year-old seals contract that will keep him at AEK until 2024
ANKARA
Croatia’s Domagoj Vida, a former defender for Turkish football team Besiktas, moved to Greek club AEK Athens on Sunday.
"AEK FC announces the signing of Domagoj Vida. The international Croatian defender signed with our club until the summer of 2024," the club said in a statement.
Vida, 33, previously played for Osijek, Bayer Leverkusen, Dinamo Zagreb, Dynamo Kyiv, and Istanbul’s Besiktas.
As a Besiktas defender in 2018-2022, he helped them win the Turkish Super Lig title and Turkish Cup in 2021.
Vida scored 16 goals in 163 appearances for Besiktas.
He won local titles with Ukraine's Dynamo Kyiv as well.
Vida amassed 98 international caps for the Croatian national team.
The experienced defender won a FIFA World Cup silver medal in Russia in 2018.
