Feyenoord fans, in Rome two weeks ago ahead of the Dutch club’s Europe League clash, have caused 5.2 million euros ($5.7 million) worth of damage, Italian media have reported.

 Hundreds of drunken Dutchmen ransacked the Italian capital mid-February. 

"We have completed the damage assessment reports about the Feyenoord fans' damage (...) in Rome and it costs approximately 5.2 million euros," Claudio Parisi Presicce -- an official responsible for cultural assets in the Italian capital -- said to Italian news agency ANSA

Italian sculptor Gian Lorenzo Bernini's Barcaccia Fountain reportedly suffered the most damage, necessitating €75,000 ($82,250) of repairs; the fountain also lost €1.2 million ($1.3 million) in value.

Pressice also said that shopkeepers were forced to close for two days because of the clashes, causing a €3 million ($3.2 million) loss in revenue.

Italian media reported that a group of students in the Dutch city of Zwolle will be donating money collected for Rome to show their solidarity with the Italian capital.

An initiative in the Netherlands called "Sorry Rome" raised €11,000 ($12,000) while a "We are from Rome" campaign in Amsterdam managed to gather €6,000 ($6,559).
