ISTANBUL

Iceland is set to make its debut in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The nordic team will take on Croatia, Nigeria and football heavyweights Argentina in Group D.

Managed by Heimir Hallgrimsson, who is also a dentist, Iceland is in the same group with Turkey, Croatia, Ukraine, Finland and Kosovo in the World Cup's European qualifiers.

Iceland led the group after bagging 22 points in 10 matches.

Iceland's biggest threat against opponents will be Everton midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson.

In 2016 summer, Iceland surprised football authorities with their stellar performance at the Euro 2016 after reaching the quarter finals. The nordic side is looking for another surprise.
