Football: Besiktas wins against Tottenham Hotspur
Black Eagles narrowly win against English club 1-0 in Istanbul in Europa League match and advance to the knockout stage
ANKARA
Turkish club Besiktas narrowly defeated English team Tottenham Hotspur 1-0, a game played at Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul on Thursday.
The win took the Black Eagles to the knockout stage of the Europa League competition.
In the 8th minute, a lighting problem occurred at Ataturk Olympic Stadium, so the game was temporarily suspended.
Home team Besiktas took the lead when their Turkish striker Cenk Tosun found the net in the 59th minute of the game. Black Eagles' attacking midfielder Olcay Sahan passed the ball to Cenk in the box and he scored at close range.
In the 68th minute, Besiktas midfielder Kerim Frei missed a great one on a chance.
Both Besiktas and Tottenham advanced to knockout stage in Europa League.
