Turkish Football Federation has ditched paper ticket system once and for all in favor of electronic tickets on Monday.
The electronic fan card 'Passolig' was introduced as part of the country's efforts to tackle hooliganism and violence in football.
The new practice aims at a better identification of fans involved in violence in stadiums.
As of Monday, Turkish football fans need to apply for their 'Passolig' cards on "www.passolig.com.tr" in order to watch games in stadiums. After aqcuiring their 'Passoligs,' they have to load deposits to their cards depending on the games they would like to watch.
Fans, who bought season tickets before Monday, will be able to enter stadiums with their current tickets.
'Passolig' cards will be valid until the end of 2014-15 football season, which will then have to be renewed.
