Football: Malang Sarr joins Chelsea
French center back signs 5-year contract with Premier League side
ANKARA
The English Premier League side Chelsea confirmed the signing of center back Malang Sarr on a free transfer.
“Malang Sarr, a young French defender previously with Nice, has joined Chelsea,” the London club announced on Thursday.
The 21-year-old defender left Nice this summer after playing 119 matches during his four-year spell at the French club.
Sarr inked a five-year deal with Chelsea and he will be loaned out by the English club for the 2020-2021 season.
Chelsea Director Marina Granovskaia said the club could not miss the chance of signing Sarr.
“He is a tremendous prospect and we will be monitoring him closely during his loan period, hoping he will soon be back at Chelsea. We are very happy to welcome him to the club today,” Granovskaia said.
