Frank Lampard on Thursday chose former teammate Ashley Cole as his new first-team coach for his backroom staff at Everton.
"The former England defender joins from Chelsea’s academy and further strengthens boss Frank Lampard’s talented backroom team of assistant managers Joe Edwards and Duncan Ferguson, First-Team Coach Paul Clement, First Team Coach and Head of Performance Chris Jones and Goalkeeping Coach Alan Kelly," Everton said in a statement.
Cole, 41, started his managerial career as an assistant coach at Derby County before joining the Chelsea academy.
The English coach is reunited with Lampard, who recently took the head coaching job at Everton on a two-and-a-half-year contract.
"I was thrilled when Frank asked me to join him at Everton. This is a brilliant opportunity with a fantastic club and I am coming here to work hard and try to help bring success to Everton," said Cole.
Cole and Lampard were teammates for Chelsea from 2006 to 2014.
