BERLIN
Bundesliga side Schalke 04 midfielder Julian Draxler will be sidelined during the first half of the season, due to a muscle tear injury.
Schalke's Director of Sport, Horst Heldt, pointed out on Saturday that the 21-year-old German international sustained a muscle tear in his right leg.
Consequently, it is expected that Draxler will be unable to play for his team during the first half of the season.
Thus, the star will miss his team's UEFA Champions League matches as well as the German national side's games against Gibraltar on Nov. 14 and Spain on Nov. 18.
He was injured in the first minute of a league match against Augsburg on Friday at the Veltins-Arena.
Schalke went on to win 1-0 thanks to their Dutch striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar's goal.
Draxler has scored 2 goals in 8 matches this season.
