Kayserispor beat Besiktas 2-1 to reach semifinals at Turkish Cup

ANKARA

Yukatel Kayserispor edged Besiktas 2-1 on Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the Ziraat Turkish Cup.

Kayserispor took an early lead thanks to Mario Gavranovic's short-range shot in the sixth minute at Vodafone Park.

Two minutes before the end of the first half, Valentin Rosier scored the equalizer with an assist by Atiba Hutchinson.

Besiktas took control after the break and had several chances to score but failed to beat goalkeeper Cenk Gonen.

Kayserispor took the lead with Miguel Cardoso's goal in the 65th minute and advanced to the semifinals.

Besiktas completed the match with 10 men after Rosier was shown a red card in stoppage time.

In another quarterfinal clash, Demir Grup Sivasspor shutout VavaCars Fatih Karagumruk 1-0 at home.
