LeBron James made his Philadelphia 76ers debut in a 114-108 preseason loss to the Brooklyn Nets, scoring 10 points as he acknowledged that his new teammates would need time to develop chemistry.
The 41-year-old, who joined Philadelphia in July after eight seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, played 18 minutes in the first half, adding four rebounds, five assists and a steal.
"We're still trying to put each other in the position to be successful and complement each other the best way we can on the floor. But it's going to take some time," James said.
"Tonight was a good sample size for us to build on," he added.
James started alongside Joel Embiid, VJ Edgecombe, Tyrese Maxey and fellow newcomer Jaylen Brown, who led Philadelphia with 18 points.
The NBA's all-time leading scorer is entering a record-extending 24th season after signing what he has said will be the final contract of his career.
James has won four NBA championships, two with the Miami Heat and one each with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers.
He has also earned four league Most Valuable Player awards and been selected as an All-Star for 22 consecutive seasons.
James is seeking to help Philadelphia capture its first NBA championship since 1983.
