Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans were dominant over the Houston Rockets as they grabbed the first win of the season with a 131-112 score.
The National Basketball Association (NBA) continued with 11 games on Wednesday evening.
Last season's Western Conference semi-finalists Pelicans started their season with an away victory over league's reigning Most Valuable Player (MVP) James Harden and the Rockets.
Davis scored 32 points -- grabbed 16 rebounds and assisted 8 times to give his team the win --, Nikola Mirotic scored 30 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while Julius Randle chipped in 25 points off the bench.
James Harden, Chris Paul, and Carmelo Anthony combined for a total of 46 points for the Rockets, while Eric Gordon was the team's highest scorer with 21 points in a losing effort.
In an Eastern Conference matchup, the Toronto Raptors started their season with a victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Raptors' superstar Kawhi Leonard put up 24 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, while Kyle Lowry scored 27 points and dished out 8 assists.
For the Cavs, Kevin Love's 21 points and Cedi Osman's 17 point-10 rebound "double-double" effort were not enough.
