Neymar to be out for at least 3 months with ankle injury
Brazilian superstar to undergo surgery in coming days at hospital in Qatar
ISTANBUL
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) superstar Neymar Jr will be out for at least three months after an ankle injury.
"Neymar Jr has sustained a number of instances of instability in his right ankle in recent years. Following his latest sprain on 20 February, the Paris Saint-Germain medical staff recommended a ligament repair operation to avoid a major risk of recurrence. All the experts consulted have confirmed this necessity," PSG said in a statement.
The French club added that surgery would be performed in the next few days at a hospital in Doha, Qatar.
On Feb. 9, Neymar was stretchered off with an injury in a 4-3 win over Lille on matchday 24 in Ligue 1.
The 31-year-old helped the Parisians reach their first-ever UEFA Champions League final in 2020. He has produced 18 goals and 17 assists in 29 matches this season.
