ANKARA (AA) - Brazilian football icon Pele's family gathered at Sao Paulo's Albert Einstein Hospital to spend Christmas morning Sunday with him.
Pele's daughter, Kely Nascimento, wished her followers a "Merry Christmas" on Instagram as Edinho, former Brazil forward's son, was next to her in a family photo taken on Sunday.
"Merry Christmas. Gratitude, love, togetherness, family. The essence of Christmas. We thank you all for all the love and light you send. In this crazy and amazing life, I would be nothing without them. Today and always, merry Christmas, merry everything," Kely said.
Pele, 82, has been battling colon cancer since September 2021 and was hospitalized on Nov. 29.
The legendary football player helped Brazil to clinch three FIFA World Cups, in 1958, 1962, and 1970.
