Scottish football club Glasgow Rangers announced Friday the signing of Romanian midfielder Ianis Hagi on loan with an option to buy.
"We are delighted to be able to add Ianis to the squad of players for the second half of the season," Rangers manager Steven Gerrard said on the club's website.
"We have been scouting him for some time and it was clear that he has the quality to help to make a difference to the team."
Hagi, 21, began his career at Romania's Viitorul Constanta, under the management of his father, Romanian football legend Gheorghe Hagi, and he was named Romanian Young Player of the Year in 2015.
“It is a great honor to play at such a huge club with a lot of history and I am looking forward to meeting everyone in the club and I can’t wait for the first training session," Hagi said on the club's website.
Hagi previously played for Viitorul Constanta in Romania, Italian team Fiorentina, and Belgium's Genk.
He produced 3 goals and 4 assists in 19 appearances for Genk, including five Champions League group stage appearances against Liverpool, Salzburg, and Napoli in the 2019-20 season.
