Spain's Sevilla wins UEFA Europa League
Spain's Sevilla are crowned as the winners of UEFA Europa League trophy by defeating Portuguese giants Benfica 4-2 on penalty shootout.
Spanish side Sevilla won UEFA Europa League trophy against last season's runners-up Benfica from Portugal 4-2 on penalties on Wednesday night.
During the game Benfica playing offensively in general found many chances with their Brazilian forward Lima, especially in second half but after he wasted them all. Their opponents Sevilla, who played in a more defensive, rigid and disciplined way, resisted Benfica and tried to hit Portuguese team on counter attacks but none of the sides could change the result and after 90 minutes, the game went to 30-minute-extra time.
In extra times two sides could not break the deadlock, as the game went to penalties.
After the penalty shoot-out Sevilla who had won the trophy back-to-back in 2006 and 2007 became as the new champions of UEFA Europa League after a 7-year-break. Meanwhile Benfica lost their 8th final in European challenges.
In addition Sevilla's Croatian midfielder Ivan Rakitic was honoured as the man of the match after the penalties.
