Anadolu Efes parted ways with Stanley Johnson on Tuesday due to “family reasons.”
"Our contract with Stanley Johnson has been mutually terminated as he has returned to the United States for family reasons," Anadolu Efes said in a statement.
"We sincerely thank Stanley Johnson for his contributions to our club and wish him success in the next chapter of his career," it added.
Los Angeles Lakers' G League side the South Bay Lakers confirmed Tuesday that they have acquired Johnson via trade with the Rip City Remix in exchange for the returning player rights to guard Devonte Graham, forward Vincent Valerio-Bodon, and a 2026 second-round draft pick.
Johnson averaged 1.9 points and 1.1 rebounds in 17 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games this season.
American forward was drafted eighth overall in the first round of the 2015 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons.
He previously played for eight seasons for NBA teams, including the San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Lakers, Toronto Raptors, New Orleans Pelicans, and Detroit Pistons.
The 28-year-old appeared in 449 regular season games (104 starts), averaging 6.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 19.8 minutes.
