ANKARA
Turkish female weightlifter Melike Gunal on Sunday won three bronze medals in the 2021 European Weightlifting Championships in Moscow.
In a statement, the Turkish Weightlifting Federation said that Gunal came third in the women's +87 kg category, winning three bronze medals in snatch (108 kilograms or 238 pounds) and clean & jerk (135 kilograms or 298 pounds), lifting a total of 243 kilograms (536 pounds).
Meanwhile, Turkey won 17 medals in total including 4 gold, 2 silver, 11 bronze in Moscow 2021 as the championships ended on Sunday.
Daniyar Ismailov won two gold, Muhammet Furkan Ozbek two gold and one bronze, Melisa Gunes one silver and two bronze, Muammer Sahin one silver, Melike Gunal three bronze, while Berfin Altun, Rabia Kaya, Sumeyye Kentli, Ferdi Hardal and Saziye Erdogan won one bronze each.
