ANKARA
The UEFA Champions League’s Match Day Three ended Wednesday night.
German club Borussia Dortmund finished the job early against Galatasaray in the League’s Group D match at the Turk Telekom Arena last night.
"Die Schwarzgelben," or The Black and Yellows, took a precious 4-0 victory thanks to Gabonese forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who found the net twice. German star Marco Reus and Colombian striker Adrian Ramos also scored for their team.
Borussia Dortmund now leads the Group D with nine points. The victorious side has also not conceded any goal in the tournament this season.
In another Group D match, England's Arsenal toppled the Belgian side Anderlecht 2-1 with late winners scored by English left-back Kieran Gibbs and German wing forward Lukas Podolski in Brussels.
Meanwhile, Group A leaders Atletico Madrid cruised past Swedish team Malmo 5-0 last night at the Vicente Calderon Stadium. The scorers were Koke, Mario Mandzukic, Antoine Griezmann, Diego Godin and Alessio Cerci.
Italian Serie A giants Juventus lost to Greek side Olympiakos 1-0 in an away match in Piraeus. The single goal of 22-year-old Swiss midfielder Pajtim Kasami brought glory for "Kokkinoi," or The Reds.
Spain's Real Madrid defeated the English club Liverpool 3-0 in Group B match at Anfield. Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo and French striker Karim Benzema, scoring a brace, made "Los Blancos," or The Whites, topple Liverpool in England.
German Bayer Leverkusen tops the Group C after winning against Russian Zenit 2-0 at BayArena. Italian Giulio Donati and Greek Kyriakos Papadopoulos were the scorers for Leverkusen, while Turkish attacking midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu made the assists.
Another German side Bayern Munich thrashed Italy's Roma 7-1 in the Group E match at the Stadio Olimpico Tuesday night. Dutch explosive winger Arjen Robben, scoring twice, was the key factor for the rampage in Rome.
Group F's Barcelona defeated Dutch opponents Ajax 3-1 at Camp Nou. Catalan giants' two international skippers, Brazilian Neymar and Argentine Lionel Messi, played key roles for "Barca" again.
London giants Chelsea competing in the Group G pounded Slovenian team Maribor 6-0 at Stamford Bridge; Belgian genius Eden Hazard hit twice and former Galatasaray striker Didier Drogba scored one goal from the penalty kick. The extravagant margin in London versus Maribor was the biggest UEFA Champions League victory of "The Blues" ever.
In Group H, Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk tore apart BATE Borisov 7-0 in an away match. Shakhtar forward Luiz Adriano was "red-hot" by finding the net five times in Barysaw, Belarus.
