ANKARA

The US Olympic 3x3 Women’s Basketball Team won the first-ever gold medal in the event at the Tokyo Games by defeating the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) 18-15 on Wednesday.

Stefanie Dolson led the US with 7 points and 9 rebounds.

Kelsey Plum, Allisha Gray and Jackie Young had 5, 4 and 2 points, respectively.

The US won all their games except for a matchup against Japan on July 27 which they lost 20-18.

China won the bronze medal game.

The US is currently atop the medals table with 31 at the Tokyo Olympics.
