Van den Boomen, Berghuis rescue 2-2 draw for Ajax against Bodo/Glimt
Albert Gronbaek scores twice for Norwegian club, but his effort still not enough to win in Conference League
ISTANBUL
Ajax rescued a 2-2 home draw over Bodo/Glimt Thursday, thanks to late goals scored by Van den Boomen and Steven Berghuis in the UEFA Conference League playoff first-leg.
Albert Gronbaek scored twice in the 16th and 64th minutes against the Dutch club at Amsterdam's Johan Cruijff ArenA.
Odin Bjortuft conceded a penalty for a foul on Brian Brobbey so Bjortuft was given a red card in the 88th minute.
After two minutes, Branco Van Den Boomen converted the penalty kick successfully to narrow the gap to one.
Steven Berghuis made a classy close-range finish in the seventh minute of added time to give Ajax a home draw.
The game ended with a 2-2 score.
Second-leg will be played on Feb. 21-22
