Featured in back-to-back matches at the Margaret Court Arena, the married couple of Gael Monfils and Elina Svitolina, both came back to win their respective matches.
Two-time quarterfinalist Svitolina from Ukrainian stunned Paolini 2-6, 6-4, 6-0, while her, husband, Monfils, from France, another two-time quarterfinalist, shocked Fritz 3-6, 7-5, 7-6(1), 6-4.
"I think I warmed up the court for her!" said Monfils, 38, who played the first match.
Svitolina, who became the first Ukrainian player to claim 100 Grand Slam match wins, said, "Most of the big tournaments we have each other by our sides. It means a lot to us to have someone who understands what we are going through. Yeah, it's a really nice feeling for me personally."
Monfils will face American Ben Shelton, while Svitolina will take on Russia's Veronika Kudermetova in the next round.
Swiatek hammers Raducanu in women's singles
Five-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek hammered former US Open winner Emma Raducanu in the women's singles third round clash Saturday.
The 23-year-old eliminated Raducanu in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0, at Rod Laver Arena.
"I try not to stay in the hotel too much because, I don’t know, every time I’m just at home (Poland) it’s so cold and so grey and cloudy that I use every opportunity now to just go out and enjoy Australia because I feel like the world has better colors here," Swiatek said following her 70-minute match. "Everything is brighter and more fun."
German Eva Lys will play Swiatek in the fourth round.
