World No.1 Iga Swiatek advances to French Open women's semifinal

ANKARA

Top-seeded Iga Swiatek advanced to the 2022 French Open (Roland Garros) women's semifinals Wednesday.

Swiatek from Poland eliminated her US opponent Jessica Pegula 6-3, 6-2 in her quarterfinal match at Paris' Court Philippe-Chatrier.

She will take on Russia's Daria Kasatkina in the semifinal round.

It will be Swiatek's second semifinal in the French Open after the 21-year-old won the 2020 Roland Garros tournament.

The US’ Coco Gauff will face Martina Trevisan from Italy in the other semifinal match.

The tournament will end June 5.
