AA sues Zaman daily over unauthorized use of photograph

Anadolu Agency has filed a lawsuit against the local Zaman newspaper for using its photograph despite the fact that the daily is no longer a subscriber of the agency.

Turkey's leading news agency said Wednesday that the Zaman newspaper had canceled its subscription agreement unlawfully on Dec. 31, 2013, but it still continues to use AA's stories and photographs.

The agency filed the case after Zaman published AA's photograph called "operation against terrorist organization in Silopi" on Dec. 18.

AA had earlier filed a criminal complaint against Zaman newspaper and "www.zaman.com.tr" webpage for using the agency’s story on May 6 and photographs on June 9, Oct. 8 and Oct. 15.
