BRUSSELS
EU Commissioner for enlargement Stefan Fule confirmed complete support to the "solution process" in Turkey.
Following one-hour meeting with Turkish Peace And Democracy Party (BDP) leader Selahattin Demirtas in Belgian capital Brussels, Fule said, "Terminating terrorism which is the main target will permit the solution of Kurdish issue while at the same time bringing peace and prosperity to the southeastern of Turkey."
Stating that they talked over the solution process, the new constitution efforts, and the needed reforms with Demirtas, Fule said that he regarded BDP as a constructive and vital partner both in the solution process and in the permanency of the reforms.
Meanwhile, Demirtas said the fact that Turkey was trying to find a political solution to terrorism problem was supported in Europe, adding "It is also felt here that the solution process contributes positively to EU-Turkey relations which has lost the drive and motivation long ago."
Referring to Turkey's process of preparing a new constitution, Demirtas said that a new constitution was both the right and expectation of each citizen, adding that EU, as well, cared about the new constitution in terms of improving the relations with Turkey."
