Bosnian footballer Misimovic voted best sportsman in Bosnia

SARAJEVO (AA) - Former Galatasaray footballer, Bosnian Zvjezdan Misimovic has won "the sportsman of the year" award at a ceremony in Bosnia on Monday. 

Misimovic, who plays for the national football team of Bosnia and Herzegovina revealed that he will act as ambassador for an institution for abandoned children. 

"I'm glad to tell you that I have arranged a cooperation with SOS Children's Villages in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where I became an ambassador. Also, I dedicate this award to my wife Stefanija, who stands by me in good and especially bad days," he said. 

The Bosnian national football team was awarded the best sports team in 2013 for qualifying to go to Brazil for the World Cup next year. Its coach Safet Susic was awarded the best coach for 2013. 

Judo player Larisa Ceric, who will represent Bosnia in the next Olympic games, was awarded the top prize in the best sportswoman category.

For the 12th consequent time, the award in the Disabled Persons category was given to the National Sitting Volleyball team.
