BURDUR
Challenge to measure the Insuyu Cevern, Turkey's "longest mapped cave" with a length of 8.100 metres continues.
Located in Turkey's southwestern Burdur province, works in the Insuyu Cavern took start in 2006, said cave researcher, Ali Ethem Keskin.
Keskin noted, so far 8,100 metre-long part was measured and mapped.
Moreover, a team joined by 8 experts from Ankara and Istanbul headed to the cave, and in the past three days they measured the cave's another 250 metres part.
Another cave researched, Ezgi Tok stressed, in the parts of the cavern where visitors are allowed there is a 3 km long "magnificent passages."
She said, "As that bit of the area was risky, it took time to complete surveys. After the visitable area, there are 5 to 6 giant lakes deep inside the cave. We have not reached the end of the cave yet, however, works continue."
