CAIRO
Egyptian security officials seized some equipment while investigating the office of Turkey's state run TV channel, TRT, in Egyptian capital Cairo.
Citing missing documents as the reason for the seizures, a team of eight security officials arrived at the office on noon Tuesday and claimed to be investigating under the orders of the prosecution office, one of TRT's Cairo correspondents Semir Yorulmaz told AA.
Yorulmaz said the team had first asked for Mehmet Akif Ersoy, vice coordinator of TRT Arabic, who was not present, and Yorulmaz told them he was not authorized to give the security officials the documents they wanted.
The team, citing the reason of 'missing documents,' seized equipment such as cameras, hard disks, lights and archives belonging to TRT.
Yorulmaz also stressed that the team looked for live broadcasting equipment, asking questions regarding it and expressing their desire to write a report on it. He noted that they gave up efforts on the issue after negotiating on the completion of missing documents.
He underlined that both the administration of TRT office and officials from Turkey's embassy in Cairo were continuing efforts on the issue.
