Eight police officers killed in mine blast in eastern Turkey
BINGOL (AA) - September 16, 2012 - Eight police officers were killed and nine others were wounded in a mine blast in eastern Bingol province on Sunday.
Officials told AA correspondent that the mine exploded when a police vehicle was passing on the Bingol-Erzurum highway, killing eight police officers and wounding nine others.
Tight security measures were taken in the region.
Four Turkish soldiers killed in mine blast in southeastern Turkey
HAKKARI (AA) - September 16, 2012 - Four Turkish soldiers were killed and five others were wounded in a mine blast in southeastern Turkey's Hakkari province on Saturday, governor's office said.
A statement by the governor's office said that the mine, planted by terrorists, exploded as a military convoy was passing on the Hakkari-Cukurca highway, killing four soldiers.
Operations are under way in the region.

Turkish troops kill 28 terrorists in southeastern Turkey
HAKKARI (AA) - September 16, 2012 - Turkish troops killed 28 terrorists in operations in Semdinli town of southeastern province of Hakkari on Saturday.
A statement by governor's office said on Sunday that clashes erupted between security forces and PKK terrorists in Evliyan and Kelektepe regions in Semdinli, stating that 28 terrorists were killed in the clashes.
A total of 123 PKK terrorists have been killed in operations staged in the past 10 days.
