The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), the United Kingdom government's department for foreign affairs, stated that "We are aware of an incident involving a British national on June 25 in Marmaris, Turkey. We are providing consular assistance."
Regarding 17-year-old British tourist Dwayne Ward who got stabbed in Marmaris, a tourist town of Turkey's southwest coast, FCO spokesperson delivered a message to Anadolu Agency correspondent saying, "We are aware of an incident involving a British national on June 25 in Marmaris, Turkey. We are providing consular assistance".
Two people were detained on Thursday after a 17-year-old British tourist was found naked and seriously stabbed in Marmaris resort town of Mugla province in southwestern Turkey on Tuesday.
Marmaris police examined footage recorded by district and workplaces surveillance cameras and launched an investigation after Ward was found injured in a garden in Marmaris on Tuesday.
It was ascertained based on the footage that two men working at an auto-washing, I.A. (26 ) and A.D. (31), were seen taking the tourist to backside of Barlar Street towards morning, holding his arms.
One of the suspects, A.D. was detained in Marmaris. The other suspect was proved to have gone to central Anatolian province of Konya by bus. I.A. was declared to have been arrested at Konya bus terminal and he would be brought to Marmaris.
The two suspects would be sent to court after their statements were taken at Marmaris Police Department.
Witnesses who saw a person lying in the garden in early morning on Tuesday immediately called police and medics and it was ascertained that the person who was injured and had no clothes on him was a British tourist, Dwayne Ward, who had come to the town a while ago.
The British tourist is reported to have been recovering, and his treatment at intensive care unit is under way.
