Fener Greek Orthodox patriarch conducts ritual in northwestern Turkiye
Bartholomew celebrates name day of Bulgarian Orthodox Church of Sweti Georgi
EDIRNE, Turkiye
The Fener Greek Orthodox patriarch in Turkiye on Saturday conducted a ceremony at the Orthodox church in the northwestern Edirne province.
Patriarch Bartholomew was welcomed by priests and metropolitans from Greece and Bulgaria on the occasion of celebrating the name day of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church of Sweti Georgi in Edirne's Kiyik district.
He also congratulated Muslims' approaching Ramadan feast, Eid al-Fitr, in a speech, saying he was happy to meet with people of the Orthodox faith from Greece, Bulgaria, and Turkiye.
The ceremony was attended by Greece's Consul General in Edirne Aris Radiopoulos and Bulgaria's Consul General in Edirne Borislav Dimitrov.
