ATHENS
"We will solve Aegean problems through mutual understanding. We believe that the Aegean will become a sea of friendship, peace and stability," Davutoglu told a joint press meeting with his Greek counterpart Dimitris Avrampoulos in Athens, noting that a consensus had appeared on adding a new momentum to the efforts to that end.
Davutoglu said Turkey and Greece had a trade volume of $4.1 billion and trade balance was in favor of Greece, adding that the two countries were aimed at bringing the trade figure to $10 billion.
Davutoglu said the two countries had great potential in terms of energy corridors, adding that cooperation between Turkey and Greece in transportation as well as in tourism should be further developed.
The Turkish minister said his country would extend any support to the Greek people in overcoming an economic crisis in the country.
Davutoglu said Greek and Muslim minorities in Turkey and Greece were "bridges of friendship" between the two nations.
The Turkish minister also expressed gratitude for the Greek support to Turkey's EU membership process and Turkey's demand for visa-free travel for its citizens in the EU.
