ISTANBUL
Insulting a religion's prophet and sanctities as well as the most sacred values of a nation and society can never be assessed within the scope of freedom of thought, said Erdogan who spoke at a meeting of his Justice & Development (AK) Party in Istanbul on Saturday.
We cannot put up with denigration of Islam's prophet and finding fault with Muslims by any means, he added.
Protests in Islamic geography should certainly be held within a reasonable frame, but, western world should also stand against Islamophobia with a determined manner, said Erdogan.
If western countries show the required sensitivity against anti-Islamic and anti-Muslim initiatives, most of the problems will already have been solved, said Erdogan.
Protests have been taking place in several countries over anti-Muslim film "Innocence of Muslims". As demonstrations in the Middle East continue over the U.S.-made video as well as a French-made cartoon -- both of which mocked the Islamic prophet Mohammed -- the death toll reached at least 19 in Pakistan recently. Thousands of people spilled into the streets in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Indonesia to protest the video.
