BAGHDAD
Iraqi President Jalal Talabani has started to recover after he was taken to hospital in Baghdad on Monday night for urgent medical treatment.
Iraq's Deputy Health Minister Essam Namiq Abdullah stated, "his condition is stable. And I underline here that there is an improvement in his condition compared with yesterday."
Abdullah added that two foreign medical teams had arrived to assist with the treatment.
According to a statement released on Tuesday from Iraqi Presidency, the president who had been working hard in order to restore the national consensus lately was hospitalized due to a health emergency caused by fatigue and exhaustion.
Talabani was taken to hospital a few hours after his meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki about the latest political conflict between Irbil and Baghdad on Monday evening.
After receiving medical treatment in Germany for three months, Talabani had returned to Iraq in September.
Turkish President invites Talabani to Turkey for treatment
On the other hand, Turkish President Abdullah Gul sent an invitation to his Iraqi counterpart Jalal Talabani to come to Turkey for medical treatment.
In a written statement released Iraqi Presidency stated that President Gul sent a message to Talabani wishing him speedy recovery and to invite Talabani to Turkey for treatment.
