Istanbul-Gyeongju World Culture Expo opened in Istanbul on Saturday.
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, attending the opening ceremony, said "I wish "Istanbul-Gyeongju World Culture Expo to conduce to tolerance and brotherhood in our region and the whole world"."
Stating that Expo would connect South Korea and Turkey culturally, Erdogan said:
"Coming together of two cities, located on either end of the Silk Road, can be seen as a symbol of 'new Silk Road'".
"Turkey and South Korea are blood brothers"
South Korean Prime Minister Chung Hong Won, stating that Turkey and South Korea were two blood brothers, said " We are strengthening the relation between two countries which are innate blood brothers."
Two cities, located on either end of the Silk Road, are set to meet at the end of this month through a global cultural festival.
Through the Istanbul-Gyeongju World Culture Expo 2013 in place from August 31 to September 22, Turkey will be colored with Korean culture.
