ANKARA (AA) – General Director of Turkish Airlines Temel Kotil has stated that Turkey invested a good deal of effort for Istanbul to host the 2020 Olympics and he believed Istanbul would very likely be selected by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). While in Buenos Aires for the IOC meeting which will determine which city will host the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Kotil stated that Turkey has invested great effort and the results will be revealed Saturday. Expressing that by 2020 Turkish Airlines would be able to transport all sportsmen from around the world to Istanbul via direct flights, Kotil said, “We are increasing our flight points. We are going to serve 100 million passengers with a fleet of 400 airplanes. Thus our hope is that Istanbul will get the Olympics 2020.” Kotil added that while watching the last presentation rehearsals, he had felt that Istanbul is the bridge between Eastern and Western cultures. "If Istanbul hosts the 2020 Olympics, it will reflect perfectly that we connect two cultures, the West and the East."
