Turkey attaches great importance to energy saving, especially in buildings, Turkey's Minister of Environment and Urban Planning said during his meeting with the president of the Global Commission on the Economy and Climate on Wednesday.
"There are incentives for encouraging energy saving in buildings as well as great work for making use of alternative energy resources in Turkey," said Minister of Environment and Urban Planning Idris Gulluce during his meeting with Felipe Calderon, the president of Global Commission on the Economy and Climate.
Gulluce underlined that environmental impact assessment reports for solar and wind power projects are carried out with particular attention.
Turkey has a 53.9 megawatt capacity for solar energy. Turkey's wind capacity by late Sept. 2014 was 3,484 megawatts but is planned to increase to 20,000 megawatts by 2023, according to the Energy Ministry.
Turkey aims to reach 110,000 megawatts of installed electricity capacity by 2023, Turkey's Energy Minister Taner Yildiz said in Nov. 2014.
