Interior Minister Muammer Guler said 2,558 Syrian citizens applied to Turkish authorities between the years 2010 and 2013 for having Turkish citizenship.
Responding to a parliamentary question, the minister said 549 Syrians applied for Turkish citizenship in 2010, 686 in 2011, 536 in 2012, and 787 in 2013.
Guler said, among these applicants, 2,721 were granted Turkish citizenship, adding 515 of them received citizenship in 2010, 573 in 2011, 841 in 2012, and 792 in 2013.
