TEHRAN, Iran
A cooperation agreement signed by Turkey's Anadolu Agency and Iran's Islamic Republic News Agency calls for an exchange of news and photographs and building a closer relationship between the countries, the chairmen of the two news services said Wednesday in Tehran.
“We believe a new era has started between Iran and Turkey,” Ozturk said. “As news agencies, we would like support this process,” he added.
AA Director General and Chairman of the Board Kemal Ozturk visited IRNA’s headquarters after signing an agreement that will allow the two agencies to exchange daily news and photographs in Turkish, Farsi, and English.
Ozturk provided IRNA President Mohammed Khoddadi with information on AA’s HAS system (New Transmission System) and explained that AA simultaneously publishes news in six languages, allowing the agency to appeal to a wide audience.
The two chairmen discussed the future relations between their respective agencies after signing the agreement.
Ozturk remarked that he is eager to further develop technology, organization, and journalism training with IRNA.
“We have renewed the previous agreement, but more importantly we believe that a new era has started between Iran and Turkey,” Ozturk said.
“We consider Turkey’s development to be linked with Iran’s,” IRNA's Khoddadi said.
