SARAJEVO, Bosnia and Herzegovina
Turkey's ambassador to Belgrade, Mehmet Kemal Bozay, has told a Balkan business conference that "a new page in Turkey-Serbia relations has been opened."
Speaking to The Anadolu Agency reporters at the fourth Regional "Business Plus" Conference in the Serbian capital, Bozay said growing political, economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries were at their highest level.
"Turkey's Halkbank bought a majority stake in Serbia’s Cacanska Banka, Turkish textile companies have provided significant employment in Leskovac [a town in southern Serbian] and Turkish investors are starting to build resorts on the Serbian highway which is a route between Turkey and European countries.
“On the other hand, TIKA [Turkey’s development agency] will continue to support aid projects and will contribute to protecting cultural values," said Bozay, adding that in May the Yunus Emre Cultural Center will be opened in the Serbian capital, Belgrade.
Bozay announced that Turkish companies operating in the oil and agriculture sectors will soon enter the Serbian market.
