Northern Cyprus confirms over 100 new COVID cases

LEFKOSA, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus

The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) confirmed 104 new coronavirus cases Tuesday. 

More than 20,035 tests were conducted over the last 24 hours, the Health Ministry said, adding some 57 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals over the past day.

While 1,075 patients are under treatment, there are three patients in intensive care units.

Thirty-six people have died so far due to the virus, and the number of cases has increased to 9,288.

Meanwhile, the Greek Cypriot administration reported 1,081 new COVID-19 cases and two deaths over the past 24 hours.

The Greek Cypriot administration has so far confirmed a total of 382 fatalities and 86,185 cases.

Since December 2019, the COVID-19 pandemic has claimed over 4 million lives in 192 countries and regions, according to figures compiled by US-based Johns Hopkins University.

More than 187 million cases have been reported worldwide, with recoveries now nearly 4 million.
