The stance towards PKK's terror attacks and supportive comments by some members of pro-Kurdish political parties in Turkey is noteworthy.
Members of the People’s Democratic Party (HDP), which passed the 10 percent threshold in the June 7 general election and took 80 seats in the parliament, as well as members of the Democratic Party of Regions (DBP), which has an active role in local government in eastern and southeastern Turkey, have made supportive comments about the terrorist organization PKK.
The comments and behavior of HDP and DBP politicians, which waited to call on the PKK to lay down its arms during the solution Process show these politicians stand beside the PKK.
Turkey launched the solution process in 2013 to end the 30-year conflict with the PKK, which has claimed the lives of more than 40,000 people.
The renewal of PKK's terrorist attacks in July marked the end of the fragile two-and-a-half year lull to fighting.
Here are some of the attitudes exhibited by HDP and DBP politicians recently:
Sacks with bread, fruits, oil and various cleaning materials were confiscated in Kars province, northeast Turkey, on Sept. 6 in three cars.
The authorities said the supplies were being sent to PKK terrorists in the Kagizman and Digor regions. Safak Ozanli, an HDP lawmaker for Kars, was alleged to be one of those involved.
The party’s deputy for Van, Tuba Hezer, took part in the funeral of PKK member Sidika Yildiz, who was killed on Sept. 2, in clashes with security forces Tunceli province’s Nazimiye district.
HDP Co-Chairwoman Figen Yuksekdag visited the family of Kevser Elturk on Sept. 1. Elturk was killed in an anti-PKK operation in Mus province.
Referring to Elturk by an alias, she said: "Ekin Wan and his friends never allowed us to bow our heads. Their testimony will keep us strong."
Alican Onlu, the HDP deputy for Tunceli, was allegedly one of those who helped terrorists injured in clashes that erupted following an attack on security forces last week. He is said to have helped place a critically injured terrorist on a stretcher.
In Agri province, the HDP’s co-chairman for Eleskirt district, Engin Dursun, was allegedly caught taking two people to the PKK on Aug. 27.
On Aug. 12, an excavator belonging to Edremit Municipality, which is under the control of the DBP, was used by terrorists to dig a ditch in Van’s Sehit Firat neighborhood with 100 kilograms (220 pounds) of ammonium nitrate, 26 wicks and 20 large batteries.
