Turkish security forces killed a total of 26 PKK terrorists Thursday in the ongoing anti-terror operations in southeastern Turkey, the army said Friday.
The Turkish General Staff said in a statement that 26 terrorists had been "neutralized" in security operations in Turkey’s southeastern provinces of Sirnak and Diyarbakir and eastern province of Van on Thursday.
“Twenty-one terrorists were neutralized in Cizre [Sirnak], four in Sur [Diyarbakir] and one in Van,” the statement said.
“Two terrorists were arrested in Hakkari province’s Cukurca district,” the statement added.
The total number of terrorists killed in Cizre district since the anti-terror operations began in December has reached 412, while the total number of those killed in Diyarbakir’s Sur district had reached 112, the statement said.
Security sources seized a considerable amount of homemade explosives, weapons, ammunitions and communication equipment, it added.
Separately, eight people were arrested in Hakkari, Sirnak and Diyarbakir provinces for aiding and abetting the separatist terror organization, the army said.
The PKK - considered a terrorist organization also by the U.S. and the EU - resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in late July.
Since then, more than 200 members of the security forces have been martyred and thousands of PKK terrorists killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
Ten Daesh-member suspects caught
The Turkish army also said in the statement that 10 suspected Daesh members, along with 14 children, were apprehended Thursday in Kilis province’s Havuzlubahce district while trying to illegally cross the border from Syria to Turkey.
