A Turkish soldier was martyred in a PKK terrorist attack in southeastern Turkey’s Sirnak province on Wednesday, the Turkish military announced.
Turkish General Staff said in a statement that PKK terrorists attacked the soldier at 8.10 a.m. local time (1010GMT) in the city center while he was on way to his assigned place of duty.
The seriously wounded soldier died in a hospital.
Meanwhile, a village guard was martyred on Tuesday during an anti-PKK operation in southeastern Diyarbakir province's Sur district.
Turkey's military blamed the “separatist terror organization members”, a reference to the PKK, for the attack.
The PKK -- considered a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- resumed its armed campaign in late July.
Since then, more than 200 members of the security forces have been martyred and over 1,700 PKK terrorists killed.
