Nineteen PKK terrorists were killed in security operations in southeastern Turkey Thursday, Turkish military said Friday.
Turkish General Staff said in a statement that operations in Sirnak province’s Cizre district left 12 PKK terrorists dead Thursday, bringing the total of number of dead in the operations there to 296.
Also, 15 improvised explosive devices were destroyed and three barricades were removed in Cizre.
In southeastern Diyarbakir province's Sur district, two PKK terrorists were killed, bringing the total number of dead there to 97; also, 11 barricades were removed from the area, while an improvised explosive device was destroyed.
Meanwhile, five PKK terrorists were also killed in Sirnak's Silopi district, bringing the total number of dead there to 135; also, eight improvised explosive devices were destroyed, while several weapons and ammunition were seized.
The PKK - considered a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU - resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in late July.
Since then, more than 200 members of the security forces have been martyred and thousands of PKK terrorists killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
