WASHINGTON
Speaking at a daily press conference in Washington, Nuland said that senior U.S. diplomats were in touch with Turkish officials and that the U.S. Ambassador in Ankara Francis Ricciardone was holding close consultations with Turkish authorities.
Nuland stressed that Turkey had called on NATO, under Article 4, to hold a meeting on Tuesday regarding Syria's downing of a Turkish military jet.
We will listen to Turkey to find out what they think, what they plan to do in the future, Turkey's expectations from NATO, and their perspective on what could be done from now on, Nuland said.
Answering a question on the two Turkish missing pilots, Nuland said that the U.S. was ready to help if a request came from Turkey for contributions in the search and rescue operation.
