SIRNAK, Turkey
Three civilians injured in attacks by PKK terrorists in southeastern Turkey have died, local officials said Saturday.
The attacks on late Thursday and early Friday in Beytussebap, a mountainous district of Sirnak province that borders Syria and Iraq, also saw two soldiers martyred and an ambulance driver died.
In a statement, the Sirnak governor’s office did not identify the civilians.
According to the Turkish military, 11 police officers and five soldiers were wounded in the attacks while the military’s response killed 34 terrorists.
According to Turkish government figures, the PKK has killed around 30 civilians since July, while more than 120 members of the security forces have been martyred.
The renewed violence came in the wake of the July 20 Suruc massacre following a fragile cease-fire from early 2013 as the “solution process” sought an end the 30-year Kurdish conflict.
