ANKARA
Chairman of Turkey's Housing Development Administration (TOKI) Ahmet Haluk Karabel said that a 20-billion Turkish Lira fund had been allocated to the administration by the government to use in construction works for the 2020 Olympic Games which may be carried out in Istanbul.
In a statement made to AA reporter, Karabel said that the greatest investments of sport history had been realized with different implementations within the scope of protocols done with Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Reminding 20 stadiums were decided to be constructed in this cooperation and constructions of 11 stadiums continued, he stated eight of the stadiums were at tender and preparation phase.
A 3-billion Turkish Lira investment in stadiums
Expressing construction of one each stadium in Afyonkarahisar, Malatya, Sivas, Eskisehir, Samsun, Gaziantep, Adana, Sakarya, Trabzon and two stadiums in Antalya continued, Karabel added:
“Kocaeli Stadium is in tender phase. Its tender will be launched on July 22, 2013. There are 7 stadiums at preparation phase. These stadiums are in provinces of Ankara, Diyarbakir, Hatay, Batman, Izmir and Edirne. Besides stadiums of TOKI, there are applications of 951 sport halls. We are constructing 431 stadiums within the protocols done with Ministry of National Education. About a 3-billion Turkish Lira investment will have been done for the stadiums.”

Pointing out Istanbul, Madrid and Tokyo were candidate cities for 2020 Summer Olympics, Karabel said TOKI would be in charge of all facilities of all games according to the result to be explained on September 7, 2013.
International Press Center and Main Press Building were among these constructions. Olympics and Paralympic construction program and finance were warranted by the government and a 20-billion Turkish Lira fund was allocated, Karabel also said.
