TRT World will air Wednesday a documentary on the July 15 coup attempt, Turkey’s state-run broadcaster TRT's English news channel has said.
Titled "My City, My Country", the documentary tells the defeated coup through the eyes of a young Istanbulite woman named Goncagul, who has filmed her experiences on a mobile phone, according to a statement from the network Tuesday.
The documentary, which includes as yet unpublished footage, will be aired at 07.30 p.m. local time (1630GMT), with reruns scheduled from Thursday through Sunday, the statement said.
It will also be available for viewing on the network's website and Youtube channel, it added.
At least 241 people were martyred and nearly 2,200 injured in the failed coup, which the government said was organized by followers of Fetullah Gulen, the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) leader who lives in self-imposed exile in Pennsylvania, in the U.S.
Gulen is accused of leading a long-running campaign to overthrow the Turkish government through the infiltration of state institutions, particularly the military, police, and judiciary, forming what is commonly known as the parallel state.
